IPA

English IPA

BJCP 12C

The original: a strong, firmly bitter pale ale with earthy and floral English hops and a bready malt base that stays in the picture. Drier and less aromatic than its American descendant.

What goes wrong

Brewing it as a weak American IPA. English hops and English yeast are the point, and a Cascade-hopped version is simply a different beer.
