Bock and strong lager
Doppelbock
Rich, malty and strong, brewed by monks as liquid bread. Melanoidin and dark fruit dominate, and the alcohol should be warming rather than hot.

What goes wrong
Under-pitching. A big lager needs a very large, healthy pitch and cold, patient fermentation or it will finish with fusels.
